Back to School!

It's back to school time and we are thrilled to be attending Santaquin Elementary!

Alex is in 2nd grade and his teacher is Mrs. Tucker.

Benjamin is in 3rd grade and his teacher is Mr. DeGraffenried (Mr. D.)

They both had a great first day of school and were ready to go back for another.  No homework yet but I'm sure that will be changing very quickly.  The homework load (according to their class disclosures) don't seem to be as much as last year and definitely less than when we lived in Cache District.

Benjamin is in the 2nd grade.  His teacher is Mrs. Olson.  She seems like a fun teacher!
Alex is in the 1st grade. His teacher is Mrs. Nielsen.  She seems like a really nice teacher!

ABC's of Summer-letters R, S, & T

This morning (Sunday) when Taun woke up, he said to me, "I really need to go see my grandpa." Pretty random but OK. As we were discussing all the details of this trip, we decided that today would be the best day for us to go. Neither one of us was teaching and we had no other plans for the day so we got ready and made a roadtrip to Twin Falls to see Grandpa Zollinger.

Taun had a great visit with Grandpa Zollinger and I think Grandpa was pretty thrilled with our visit. The kids and I spent alot of the time outside or downstairs so that Taun could just talk with Grandpa.
(I love how Grandpa and Samuel are looking at each other in this picture. Grandma died in November and it is almost like Samuel is telling Grandpa that she is just fine and she is finally not in pain.)

Pretty crazy bunch here!
After we left Grandpa's house we traveled about 3 miles to see Shoshone Falls. The kids LOVED it!

Some nice young couple saw that we were taking turns getting pictures with the kids and they offered to take a few pictures for us.

Samuel was playing with his feet and so it made him rock in his carseat. He was very happy though.

These Falls are stunning!

ABC's of Summer-letter O!

For the letter O and in honor of The Olympics, we decided to have a few friends and cousins over for our own Olympics.

A little video of the opening ceremony, complete with a torch and runners!

The first event was the Hurdles. Gracie was first and she did great!

Our neighbor, Penny.

Another neighbor, Daisy.

Our friend, Makaydi.

Alex and Mikaela

Benjamin is getting ready to start his run.

Aubrie was so fast that by the time my camera took the picture she had already jumped the hurdle!

The winners of the Hurdles

Mikaela took the Gold.
Maddy took the Silver.
Aubrie took the Bronze.

The Discus was the 2nd event. Alex is just getting ready to throw it.

Gracie really liked to retrieve the "discus."

Winners of the Discus

The next event was the Long Jump. It was impossible to get pictures of this one and our winners were unavailable for photos. We did not tell the athletes that the winners would actually be the ones who jumped the shortest distance. He! He! Ha! Ha!

The Balance Beam was next. Aubrie is really concentrating!

Alex (I love how he is holding his arms out to balance himself!)

Next event was the Pudding Eating Contest. The athletes had to eat their pudding with a fork and for this reason they all had to wear a bib. Enjoy the video!

Javelin Toss was next.
Aubrie=Gold (2)
Benjamin=Silver (1)

Samuel slept most of the time but when he wasn't he either chilled out like this or with Kelsey.

We had so much fun even though it was super hot! Thanks to Kelsey, Maddy, Mikaela, and Aubrie for helping me out!
