This little story actually starts a few days back, so bear with me. B woke up very early in the morning on Sunday and was very hot. I took his temperature and it was 103. We opted to wait it out and then at 7:00 p.m. we decided we had better take him into the clinic. We thought that maybe he had strep because his voice was all raspy and he said that his throat hurt. The nurse did a strep test on him and then the doctor came in and said it was negative. He proceeded to check all the usual things that they check and told us that his right ear was red and that he had an ear infection. (This makes me mad more than anything else because we had tubes put in last year and this is ear infection #4 since the tubes and he just finished 10 days of Amoxicillian.) We decided to put him on a stronger antibiotic to see if we could knock out all the infection.
Monday, I took the kids to the babysitter and B acted like he felt fine.
Tuesday morning; 4:30 a.m. B woke up and I realized that he was burning up again. The thermometer read 102 so we gave him Tylenol to reduce the fever and then at 8:00 a.m. I checked the temp. again and it was at 101. I tried to find a substitute for my class and could not find one so I went to work. A was happy and B was screaming, "Go home, mommy" all the way to the babysitters house. I took one turn out of the subdivision where we live and got pulled over because I was speeding. I was sobbing before the cop even got to my window and B was still crying and screaming, "I hold you mommy!" He gave me a ticket and sent me on my way. I could not control the emotions and cried to the babysitter who convinced me to call in sick...so I did. I found a sub and threw some worksheets at her and then went to get my kids. I am home with my kids (who are both sleeping) and surprisingly enough B acts like he feels alot better and he is not burning up anymore. This is just one more confirmation for me on how much I need to be a stay at home mom.
Sorry for the sob story.
Moral to the story: If you ask it the day could get any worse, the answer will most likely be YES!

Oh, Shannon, I am so sorry. That really sucks.
There is nothing worse than sick kids. Not only does it stink to have to deal with them whining and feeling crummy, but you have to have the "mommy worry" as well. I hate that part so much when you are just sick inside because they are so sick.
And what a stupid cop!!! Seriously, some of them should be taken off the streets. Have some pity on a poor mom with sick, screaming kids. I am disgusted. Some people have no sympathy. The jerk.
I need a girl's night too! This month is going to be really hairy, but if we can get away I am all for it!
Let me know if I can help you! Do you need dinner?
yuck! I hate sick kids! I'm sorry shanny. You can vent on your blog whenever you want!
Some days when it rains it pours! I feel like that and I am a stay at home mom. You just need to take it a moment and a day at a time. And you will be able to stay home eventually :)
I hope you had a better day today!
